During 2000 and 2001 we organized collections of clothing, toys, and school supplies for the children in Stalowa Wola. In 2001, we also managed to send some children on a trip to Zamosc, where they had the opportunity to go to a theater and the zoo.
In the summer of 2001, the idea of organizing an auction of children’s drawings was born. The children felt honored and worked very hard on the projects. The little artists earned $1,300, which allowed them to go to a theater in Rzeszow and have a picnic in the park. The rest of the money was intended for the renovation of their facilities.
In the beginning of 2002, we received a letter from an orphanage house in Stalowa Wola. Ms. Iwona Borkowska wrote about the needs of the children there and of financial difficulties of the institution. At her request, we organized a book auction. Our gathered funds made it possible for us to buy school supplies for the institution. Later that year, we sent more money for a trip to Lancut and Rzeszow.
On February 22, 2003, we organized our first Valentine’s Day Fundraising Dance. Profit from that event was designated for the orphanage in Stalowa Wola. Thanks to the funds, the kids were able to go on a trip to Cracow and a two week vacation in Rymanow Zdroj.
Our biggest charity event took place on September 20, 2003 in the Polish American National Hall. Almost 250 people participated in the fundraising dance. Thanks to the generosity of the participants and sponsors (A.G. Contractors, Bridge Capital Enterprises, M.M. Faze Construction Corp., Zale Contracting Inc.) we collected $13,000 which was sent to orphanages in Stalowa Wola, Bialystok, and Jelenia Gora.
In late September 2003, we received a letter from a desperate mother, Krystyna Przygorzynska, whose son suffers from scoliosis. She asked us for help in paying for her son’s surgery and in response to her request we organized a book auction that displayed some work by Father Ryszard Koper and Katarzyna Ziolkowska.
The most important event of 2003 was our formal establishment on November 26th. The Board of Directors (Tadeusz Chaber, Rafal Chojnowski, Andrzej Grzegorzewski, Beata Pudelko, Krzysztof Rostek, Aldona Trzeciak, and Mariola Zaremba), was established and the statute was approved.
