Beginning in 2011, we started with the Valentine’s Ball, which occurred in the Polonaise Terrace in Brooklyn. The Guest of Honor was Mrs. Dorota Andraka, the President of the Polish Supplementary School Council of America. The Board of Directors of Children's Smile Foundation honored the prestigious Madame for her outstanding commitment to the education of the young American Polonia. A special diary, in which everyone was able to write wishes and congratulations, was presented to honor the foundation and Mrs. Andraka.
The income from the ball was given to children in orphanages in Poland as well as Brian Walec‘s Family, who lost all of their belongings in a fire.
Our next fundraiser took place on June 5th, 2011 at the Polish Consulate in New York. Art works provided by orphanages in Stalowa Wola and Glowienka in Poland were auctioned. Mr.Adamek, a known Polish boxer, donated his boxing gloves for the auction.
During the event, we had performances from special guests from Poland the contest winners of the Polish edition of “You Got Talent” Ewa Lewandowska, and from New York Agnes Kalinowski, Paulina Nowakowski and Gabriel Stryjniak.
Income from this fundraiser was divided to the following causes: Orphanage “ Ochronka” in Stalowa Wola,a foster home in Glowienka and Malgosia Tomczak, a 6-year-old girl who was born with a shorter leg, to help her cover upcoming operations.
With the School of Polish Language and Culture in Maspeth, the foundation had the Summer Feast on Saturday, June 25th, 2011. The party was organized to help Dorota Zakrzewska, the mother of three newborns who lost their father two weeks after their birth. Part of the funds raised during the evening were donated to the students from Maspeth as scholarships.
The fundraiser to help the flood victims of Wallington, New Jersey raised enough money to give children that suffered the most due to the hurricane and flood. The organization was able to help twenty families which were given gift cards to Wal-Mart.
On Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 once again we organized a Santa Claus event in the auditorium of School of Polish Language and Culture in Maspeth. The event was organized for children in need, mainly those who reside in orphanages in Poland and the children of families who are in a difficult situation in life.
The guest of honor was the Consul Peter Janicki and his wife.
We welcomed the representatives of the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, who brought a huge basket of children's favorite Christmas chocolates.
Thanks to our supporters, we were able to raise more than $ 6000 which will help families in our community during this year’s Christmas time.
There were plenty of attractions for children such as a magic show, art classes and a meeting with Santa Claus, who handed out gifts to children. Further, children made Christmas cards, which were later distributed to children in orphanages.
Christmas is a special time of gifts and love. The assembled guests and sponsors have shown their big heart and generosity. Before the stage stood Christmas tree from which guests were able to remove the bottom of the skirt and make a donation to the orphanages in Poland. There was also an auction for a shirt signed by Adam Malysz, one of the most successful ski jumpers in history.
The T-shirt with his autograph sold for $ 150 . Income from the event was sent to orphanages in Poland and will help children from Polish families in the U.S., which, especially during the holiday season, need our support and assistance.
